Motorsport fervor is set to sweep Northeast India as the Indian Racing Festival begins a historic, high-octane tour of five lively cities. Between April 12 and 22, the thunder of Formula 4 cars will resound through Kohima, Aizawl, Shillong, Guwahati, and Gangtok streets, a historic milestone for motorsports in the region.

JK TYRE LEADS THE CHARGE

Backed by JK Tyre and Industries, the event is officially known as “JK Tyre Powered Indian Racing Festival – A Carnival of Total Control.” It’s not just a race, it’s a calculated move to decentralize Indian motorsports and bring world-class racing to emerging cities and untapped talent pools.

With a history of promoting motorsports in India, JK Tyre’s new initiative seals its commitment to developing the culture of racing beyond metro cities.

FORMULA 4 STEALS THE SHOW

Forefronting the show is the Formula 4 category, a global name that prepares the champions of the next generation. To many fans, it will be the first view of professional-calibre speed, engineering, and precision—so close to their home.

Buckle up as India’s next generation of F4 stars steal the show, most of them already having stamped their authority across global circuits.

SOMETHING MORE THAN RACING – AN ENTIRE MOTORSPORT CARNIVAL

The Indian Racing Festival is more than the racetrack. It’s a rich, multi-faceted fan experience with something for everyone:

  • Bike stunt performances with drift sequences and precision wheelies.
  • Interactive fan zones with racing simulators, selfie booths, and VR experiences.
  • Motorsport education panels for students and young fans.
  • Driver meet-and-greets & pit tours for contest winners in luck.

It’s a festival of speed, yes—but also one of community, culture, and inspiration.

LOCAL STREETS TURN INTO CIRCUITS

Authorities in Guwahati and Shillong are rapidly transforming selected roads into race-ready circuits. Grandstands, barricades, safety fencing, and media areas are being built in collaboration with city authorities and motorsport authorities.

Traffic diversions and public education campaigns are also ensuring the trouble-free conduct of the events at the same time.

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

State governments and local authorities in all five cities have lent whole-hearted support to the event. Guwahati authorities have cited the tourism influx and youth involvement the event will generate, and Shillong has referred to the race as a “landmark event” on the sports calendar of Meghalaya.

In a show of community strength, free student tickets are being handed out through schools and colleges to kindle a passion for motorsports and career prospects in the industry.

SAFETY COMES FIRST: GLOBAL STANDARDS IN POSITION

Organizers will run all the races while strictly following FIA-approved safety guidelines. From professionally certified track marshals and doctors to live-emergency response vehicles, organizers are taking drivers’ safety, spectator safety, and crew safety first.

The Motorsport Federation of India (FMSCI) plays an active role in overseeing infrastructure and professional conduct at all arenas.
